Visiting the Practice

We want every visit to Piddle Valley Vets to be as calm and stress-free as possible for both you and your pet.

During the pandemic, we changed the way our appointments worked and asked clients and their pets to wait in their cars rather than in our waiting room. Although this was originally introduced out of necessity, we noticed that many pets were calmer waiting in a familiar, quiet environment, and we received positive feedback from our clients.

Based on this experience, we decided to continue with an approach that we feel benefits many of our patients. We may therefore ask you and your pet to wait in your car until we are ready for your appointment. This helps reduce the stress of unfamiliar people, noises and other animals, and can be particularly helpful for nervous pets, cats in carriers, reactive dogs and animals that are unwell.

Clients are, of course, welcome to come into reception to speak to our team, make appointments and collect medication. You are also welcome to wait in the waiting room if you and your pet would rather.

If your pet has particular needs or you are concerned about how they cope with veterinary visits, please let us know. We are always happy to discuss how we can make their visit as comfortable as possible.

About Us

Established in July 2011 by David Holah, BVSc CertZooMed MRCVS, Piddle Valley Vets is a state-of-the-art veterinary surgery where we look after every aspect of your pet’s health and welfare needs. We are proud to be an independent practice. The practice, located in the old GP Surgery, alongside the beautiful river Piddle in the picturesque village of Puddletown, has been extensively refurbished and equipped with the latest technology and facilities to house animals of many different species in the most comfortable and relaxing way possible within a clean, clinical environment. We are well placed to maintain our number one aim of keeping your pets well.
